Getting back in the saddle!

Now, during my "sabbatical" a lot of people has asked me "What must we do to be POPIA compliant and how much is it going to cost? Well, you can be compliant for a little as a couple of hundred bucks as some consultants has advertised but for me that is not the issue. For me, I would prefer that Public Bodies/Private Bodies understands why these pieces of legislation is important and the benefits (there are actually benefits) prior to spending money just because of a possible jail sentence or a fine. Understand the why! If you havent started with compliance yet, I think it is time but it is also true that there is a phase after 31 June 2021 and it will last forever. Awareness and training is critical. It doesnt help to be compliant but the rest of company has no idea what you talking about. There is more and the 8 conditions spells it out. The what, where, why and how is questions that should be ask when addressing POPIA.

..and then there is PAIA which also needs compliance. Very little said anywhere. Figuratively speaking, It feels like a family member in jail. Everyone knows he is there but prefers not to acknowledge it. Again, easily to be compliant with but why? Of cause, it also have benefits.
